BRASS ON THE RIVER - CANCELLED

Due to unforeseen circumstances, BRASS ON THE RIVER, which was scheduled for Saturday afternoon (21 October from 4:00-5:00pm) has had to be CANCELLED. We apologise for the inconvenience and short notice to those who intended attending. Our next performances will be at the Thuringowa Remembrance Day commemoration from 10:30am on Saturday 11th November at the Riverway Cenotaph, followed by Music in the Library from 10:00am on Sunday 10th December at Riverway Library. We hope to see you there!

NEW MUSIC DIRECTOR

Following the Thuringowa Brass Band's Annual General Meeting in September, Greg Finlay after 5 years at the front waving "the stick" stepped down as Musical Director. In his place, the new Musical Director will be Lachlan Cutler, who was Greg's deputy and also on occasions has been the stand-in conductor for Burdekin Brass Band and Herbert River Brass Band. Many thanks to Greg for his time and efforts and well wishes to Lachlan.

GCBF Application SUCCESSFUL

THURINGOWA BRASS BAND was successful in its application to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund Round 113. This grant will be used to purchase new instruments to replace instruments that have either reached their end of useable life, or rapidly approaching that time. Additionally, a purpose-built trailer to carry large brass and percussion instruments can now be purchased to replace the current trailer which has reached the end of its working life.

The Band would like to extend its thanks to the referees to this application, in particular Aaron Harper MP, State Member for Thuringowa. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Greg Aitken and his team at Brass Music Specialists, the one-stop shop for brass and woodwind instruments and also to Arthur Florence at Music Aid Brass and Woodwind Repairs, your local brass and woodwind repair specialist.
